Out Of Hypersleep - Last Call
Although I had set a deadline of 11/12/12, we still have plenty of room for more video pieces. With just a couple of days before the show, I encourage any New Media students, faculty, or staff to submit their work for exhibition in the front hallway of Northside Hall. We have plenty of monitors and a nice supply of gallery-loaned pedestals to display them on!
For those who have already offered to show their work, I will be contacting you tomorrow (Tuesday) to make arrangements for delivery of your media.

Open Screening - November 30, 2012
The second of the two New Media Open Screening events is scheduled for November 30, 2012, and will be held in Wiekamp Hall, Room 1001 from 7:00-8:00 p.m.
This time around, we want to make sure everyone knows that all New Media students are welcome to attend and show their work, including graphic design and photography (basically, anything that can be loaded onto a computer and projected). This remains a great opportunity to show your work off to a willing audience, receive valuable feedback, and participate in the New Media arts culture of the IUSB campus.
No need to RSVP, just bring your work on a flash drive (or burned to a disc) to the event night. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Autumn 2012 Is Upon Us!
Welcome back to an exciting new semester, New Media students. First off, have you seen our feature article in Aspire magazine (a publication of the Ernestine Raclin School of the Arts)? You say you followed the QR code at the end of the article to get here? That's fantastic! Now, who wants to help me make one that's visible from space, then convince somebody aboard the international space station to make a YouTube video of themselves accessing it with their iPhone?
Perhaps that's a bit TOO ambitious for this early in the semester, but the point is--we want to make an impression on campus. This year, I would love to see some driven, creative, energetic students help me take the reins of this club. If you're shooting videos in your garage, if you're making digital art on your laptop, if you saw The Avengers over the summer and want to record miniature sets exploding, guess what? You're not alone.
I don't care if it's pop art, fine art, glitch art, performance art, what have you--if it falls under the jurisdiction of New Media (and so much does) then Arts Codec is your club.
We didn't have a table for Welcome Week, we didn't have free popcorn for you. But we absolutely will be giving you the chance to screen your work in front of students and faculty (and friends and family, if they're so inclined to join us). The future is anything we want to make out of it, so drop us a line and see how you can get involved!
Send me a note at artscodec@gmail.com, and check out our Facebook page. We'll be planning our first show soon.
- Mark Sniadecki, Arts Codec President
